The Right to Agrarian reform for Food Sovereignty Campaign

The rights of small-scale farmers to agrarian reform and food sovereignty is systematically being undermined by the market led land reform and agricultural policies of the state. The choices of small-scale farmers are further limited by the chemical industrial model of agriculture that has proven to impact negatively on their health and the environment. The rights of small-scale farmers to farm or produce is essentially being eroded because of a reliance on market forces.

This campaign sets out to place centrally the right of small-scale farmers and farm dwellers/workers to agrarian reform and food sovereignty as a basis for rural transformation. Small-scale farmers and the landless have the right to agrarian reform and to participate in the development of agricultural policies that promotes food sovereignty.
