Agrarian reform is quintessential to address the problem of landlessness, rural underdevelopment and poverty. Pro poor agrarian reform is a pre condition to ensure people’s and food sovereignty which is being undermined by the neo liberal socio economic system. That is the right of people to produce their own food, determine agricultural policies and access healthy food. This is also the basis for a radical transformation of rural relations. Small-scale farmers, farm dwellers and workers, the rural poor are an important social force to bring about this transformation. Agrarian reform for food sovereignty is a basic human right of the rural and urban masses, which forms the basis for transforming the rural economy and broader societal change. The small scale farmers and landless in this regard have launched The Right to Agrarian Reform for Food Sovereignty Campaign.
